The Viennale is Austria\u2019s most important\u00a0international film event<\/strong>, as well as one of the oldest and best-known festivals in the German-speaking world. Every\u00a0October,<\/strong>\u00a0the Viennale takes place in beautiful cinemas in\u00a0Vienna\u2019s historic center<\/strong>, providing the festival with an international orientation and a distinctive urban flair. In its program, the Viennale shows a carefully picked selection of new\u00a0films from all over the globe as well as from Austria<\/strong>, some of them\u00a0international premieres<\/strong>. The Viennale receives regular international acclaim for the large-scale retrospective on relevant aspects of film history it organises every year in collaboration with the Austrian Filmmuseum, its numerous Special Programs, as well as for its In Focus programs and homages dedicated to important personalities and institutions in film-making. The conclusion of the festival sees the awarding of the\u00a0FIPRESCI Prize of the International Film Critics\u2019 Association<\/strong>,\u00a0 the\u00a0Vienna Film Prize of the City of Vienna<\/strong>, the\u00a0Erste Bank\u00a0More<\/em>VALUE Filmaward\u00a0<\/strong>and the\u00a0DER STANDARD-Viennale-Audience-Award.<\/strong><\/p>\n
